Surf to City 2012

14th January 2012

Donna, Peter (crew for S2C) and I went for a quick sail for an hour or so today 8th January. We had 10 to 12 knots which was a good amount to get planing and run through everything with Peter on how to gybe the kite with our articulating pole, he's done it before but it was a while ago so today was a refresher course for next weekend. We don't want to be trying to remember how to do stuff next weekend in the race.
The new carbon/aluminium mast behaved itself very nicely as this is the first time we have put all the big race sails on it. We gave the mast a bit of a work-out by intentionally loading everything up on reaches a couple of times and nothing happened that shouldn't have. The mast didn't loose any of it's pre-bend.

My reserve crew helping me pack-up after returning home from our sailing. Harvey is a rescued dog who was 38kg when we got him and is now a health 51kg. I did not help him onto the boat, he got up for himself---big dog ?
