The QCYC Winter Series has started again and Shazza has had a good start with two line honours wins in Division 2 and a 5th and 1st on handicap.
Donna is unfortunately unwell and was unable to sail. So I went two-up with new friend Cat (Catherine).
The breeze for the first race was a drift contest with 0-3knots, so we sailed dinghy style and heeled Shazza quiet a bit which seemed to work well. The second race was a little more consistent with a 2-5knot breeze and we actually gave the division 1 boats a bit of a hurry up.
The funny parts of the day where when they shortened the course in the first race and we tried to keep going because we were very rusty on our code flag reading tha
t the finish boat was displaying and did the same again in the second race. We actually did an extra lap of the course in the second race because we couldn't read the flags (Cat did keep telling me she thought we were finished--and I agreed) and the other boats behind I kept racing also because they couldn't read the flags either. So we were not letting them past us and they were not going to let us get away--very funny, lots of funny comments all round back at the bar.
