Rudder Cassette #2
All carbon this time. The sleeve is bullet proof and the tiller is on nice and strong. I made the carbon tube tiller using a thin cardboard tube as the mandrel.
The blue tape is where the gudgeon will be--200mm or 10' inch gudgeon and there will possibly be another 50mm/ 2' in gudgeon just under the tiller. The old cassette was pine and fibreglass which weighted in at 2.7kg the new one as in the photo is 1.6kg and a lot stronger I reckon. Finished should only be about 200gm heavier.
Should have it all finished next weekend.
