Before trying to get the mast up I thought I would make it easier. The rear mast travel mount doubles as a holder and the front of the mast is pinned to the mast step so it wont move while standing it.
I make no apology for creating a very different mast rake to all I have seen so far. This is just our idea of what we want--if it works, great. The jumpers are now in place (changed from what you see in this image- much shorter) and the spreaders need to be welded/finished. I will be having the standing rigging started by a pro. probably by the end of the week.
The process was stalled a fair bit by a LOT of discussion about the spreaders--how to make, who to make, and at what angle for the rake. Which resulted in me making the spreaders and my friend (who will be designing and cutting the sails) giving me a very big hand in the angle/ placement department of the spreader/ jumper combination.
Thanks Laurie of Allwood Sails.
